Hey All,

Holy cow, several days ago was my 10 year Anniversary of joining deviantART. (This account anyway, my old account was made about 2-3 years earlier) I feel like they should give you some kind of 10 year badge or something haha. I'm not active on here anymore except to accept member submissions to my photography group. Which just hit the 7 year mark itself. GO JOIN! - Aperteur
So I randomly checked the Notices section of my inbox dA, saw one to be about skylines so it catches my attention so I click it and Lo and Behold, my Cityscape photo is the second on the page. Kinda nice to receive some recognition of some sort.

Here's what I'm talking about:

I had my 6th dA anniversary a few months back, but wow has time flew! I'm not very active here, but I do stop by daily, mostly to manage my growing Photography group. (You should check it out Aperteur ) Anyways, this wasn't supposed to be a plug for my group. To think of where I was six years ago (really 7 if you count my original dA account) and where I am now working as a full time Graphic Designer, it just blows my mind. I was 15 when I joined dA and now I'm 22. I'm getting old...

How long have you been a dA member?

Food.

Sorry, Just kidding.. I thought it might catch your attention though.

Since my last update I have been fortunate enough to land a job as a graphic designer for a t-shirt shop 2 minutes down the street from my house. I am now a 9-5 employee. I have to pinch myself sometimes to make myself realize how lucky I was to come across an opportunity like this. I mean how many graphic designers out there my age are privileged enough to hold the position at a blossoming company like I am..

So how have you been?

Hey Y'all!

I finally ordered a 50mm lens for my Nikon!

It was about time too, I was getting tired of my 18-55mm kit lens. This will inspire me to get out there with my camera. I had been stuck with the decision between the 35mm or the 50mm. I ultimately went with the 50mm after a ton of research. Not that the 35mm wouldn't make another great addition to my lens collection at a later time...

HURRY UP UPS!

New Beginnings.

Fri Oct 12, 2012, 1:19 PM
Hey Everyone,

I wanted to write a quick journal entry teasing my next journal features! Due to the success of the last feature, I had to do another. I love having the opportunity to expose my watchers to some great photographers here on dA that you might not find otherwise. These features will be found by me so please refrain from asking if I can feature your piece. If I come across it myself and like it, I will feature it. There will be different feature categories weekly (or so I hope). I will keep the features down to 5-10 per category as to not overwhelm the viewers and to give more spotlight to each individual. Sound good?

On another note, I am curious which setting you use on your dA homepage? Do you have it set to view the popular deviations? Or, like myself, have it set to show newly submitted deviations? You can answer this in my latest poll which will be posted after this journal. You can comment on this journal too. I'm looking forward to your response.

What's new with Alex?

Besides this awesome journal skin created by: jonarific? Since you asked, We've been having some great photography weather here in my home state. You may have a different description of what great photography weather is, but I absolutely love Autumn for it's great photography ops. Maybe I'll go "Leafing" sometime this weekend. I need to get out with my camera. I feel us growing apart. (No I don't have relations with my camera.)

Features:

This week's theme is "New Beginnings." These features are coming soon.

HOLY...

I came on dA today to find a surprise awaiting me. Someone who chose to remain Anonymous had purchased a 3 month deviantART subby for me.

Not sure who you are... but THANKS A LOT!!!!!

Nothing short of a pleasant surprise. :]

Hi Everyone. Some of you may remember how I once did journal features rather frequently. I got away from doing this for one reason or another and I missed it. I posted in the thumb-share forum asking for deviant art photographers to share three thumbs of their favorite work produced by themselves. The turnout was great and I am happy to share these wonderful works with all of you. I picked one out of the three thumbnails that the photographer had shared. This is a pretty colorful feature journal if I do say so myself. Enjoy!

Thanks to all of those who participated!

News!

Hey everyone, sorry for my lack of updates and what not, (like I have many followers anyways lol) Anyways, I got my acceptance letter today from the college I really wanted to go to this fall. It's the Art Institute of Boston (not to be confused with the A.I. chain.) This school is run by Lesley University. It still hasn't really sunk in yet. I'm going to be an Art Student in Boston! Lookout city people, Alex is 'acoming. I'll be majoring in Graphic Design, but I really want to give Photography a shot. As you know, it's a passion of mine and I want to get even better at it! Good things are coming my way finally. Ok, so I'll end the overly-possitive vibes I'm throwing in your face and I digress.

Wish me luck with everything!

It really works, I haven't received many watchers from it, but a lot of exposure, favs and views. It's worth a shot.

Exciting News -Revealed-

Journal Entry: Wed May 9, 2012, 4:47 PM
Hey Everyone, You may recall, (or not) that I had some exciting news to share with you and I pulled a Sopranos finale and cut off suddenly, leaving you all in the dark.

No I am not pregnant. However, that would be interesting no?

Say hello to the newest admin of ThePhotographersClub. That's right, I am now an admin at the wonderful photography group PhotographersClub !!

While I'm very excited about this opportunity, I'm a little anxious to start (as anyone is when starting something new) I am planning on being a great part of this extensive community and hopefully it will broaden my horizons a little.

As for my group, I will keep it running as usual and maybe some of the experience from working for PhotographersClub will rub  off on me and make my own group more successful.

Well, that's my news. It may not be exciting for you, but it's a pretty big deal for me. Wish me luck!

Exciting News!

I don't think I told you guys this, but I finally got my Macbook Pro! I feel more complete now.

Now all I need to do is get the adobe software and I will be ready to roll! I'm still learning all the ins and outs about the Mac OSX it will take some time but I think I can do it. Other than that I'm having my typical winter break from college. One more semester here and then I will be moving onto a four year college to complete my bachelor's degree.

I'm Edumacated! (my computer wants to auto-correct that so desperately)

Hope everyone has a nice week and I'll be back with a new journal before you know it.

I hate the winter.

No, not just because of it's horrible weather. I hate the winter season for one sole reason:

It's what I refer to as the "dead season". As a photographer this recurring dark time is something more like a beast that sucks the inspiration and drive right out of my being. I'm sure many others may have the opposite opinion, but for me, I hate the winter. Personally, I hate taking a dozen of pictures of snow. It's white and boring. That being said, there are ways to use the snow to your advantage and turn it into a great piece of photography. I just don't seem to travel around much in the winter, therefore, most of my winter photographs take place in my yard. How boring.

Going to wrap this up as I am getting cold.

Damn winter.
I'm so dead on here.

What should I do?!
